MT Diversity and Inclusion
At MediaTracks, we’re committed to developing an inclusive community that welcomes individuals from all backgrounds. For our music to connect with the world, it needs to reflect the world, and developing diversity is a key priority for us as a business. This commitment feeds through into everything we do, from the composers and artists we work with to the way we curate and market our music and so much more. When recruiting the MediaTracks team, commitment to inclusivity was also a key consideration to ensure that we have the right people in place to take this mission forward.
The music industry faces big challenges when it comes to equality and diversity, and as a company we know we have a long way to go. When William and Andrew took on MediaTracks, 98% of the catalogue was written by white male composers. A few months on, 10% of composers and artists are female and 5% are from an historically oppressed background. It’s a small step, but it’s our first step in the right direction and we’re determined to continue driving positive change. In time, we hope these changes will enrich our catalogue, open doors for talented people and introduce a broader range of music to the global media stage.
