She Creates: Production Music Challenge

1. The competition

1.1 MediaTracks has teamed up with Music Production for Women to bring you a very special competition aimed at encouraging more women and gender minorities into the world of Production Music Libraries and Sync. This is a great opportunity for any budding producers, composers, or artists who would like to gain more experience and exposure in music sync, so we encourage anyone to enter even if you haven't produced or written for production music libraries before.

1.2 Criteria:

Compose and produce 1 track of approx. 60 - 90 seconds in length, which is in adherence with the brief and using the accompanying reference tracks, all of which you can find here
Submissions must be sent via Disco, the industry standard platform for submitting to sync libraries, at the following link: https://s.disco.ac/odyzxvjfkuyt
Please use the following naming format when submitting your track: TrackName_ArtistName_She_Creates_Challenge
2. How to enter

2.1 You can enter this competition by completing the entry form and submitting your entry at https://forms.gle/HRMojX9VKN7d....

2.2 You may only submit one entry to this competition. Entries over the maximum number of entries will be void.

2.3 No payment is necessary to enter this competition.

2.4 By submitting your entry, you confirm that you have read and understood these terms and conditions and agree to be bound by them.

3. Start date

This competition will start at 09:00 GMT on 1 May 2023.

4. Closing date

4.1 The closing date for entries to this competition is 29 May 2023 at 23:59 GMT. Entries received by us after this time (whether or not they were sent before) will be void and will not be entered into this competition.

4.2 Judging will take place on as soon as possible after the closing date.

5. Eligibility

5.1 The competition is open worldwide. To enter this competition you must be aged 18 or over at the time of entry. This Competition is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited or restricted by law.

5.2 The following persons are not eligible to enter:

5.2.1 our employees or workers, or the employees or workers of any company in our group;

5.2.2 employees or workers of any organisation involved in the operation or administration of this competition including prize suppliers and advertising agencies; and

5.2.3 members of their immediate families.

5.3 Entries will be void if they:

5.3.1 do not comply with these terms and conditions;

5.3.2 are incomplete or illegible; or

5.2.3 exceed the maximum number of permitted entries as set out in clause 2.2.

5.4 We may ask for proof of age or eligibility. Delay or failure to provide the evidence to our reasonable satisfaction may result in an entry being void or a prize being forfeited.

5.5 Our decision as to whether an entrant (or their entry) is eligible for this competition is final and we are not obliged to provide any reasons for disqualification.

6. Selection of the winner

6.1 There will be four winners.

6.2 The winners of this competition will be the entries chosen by a panel of judges (including at least one independent member) to be the four tracks that best convey the brief, while displaying outstanding quality and originality, out of all entries correctly submitted in accordance with these terms and conditions.

6.3 The names of the judges are available on request (see clause 13 below for our contact details).

6.4 The decision of the judges is final.

7. Contacting the winners

7.1 We will notify each winner as soon as possible on or after the closing date (or the date of judging, if different) using the contact details provided in the entry.

7.2 Reasonable efforts will be made to make contact over a period of two weeks. If it has not been possible to contact any of the winners in that time, the relevant winner(s)’ prize(s) will be forfeited and awarded to the next eligible entrant(s).

8. Prize

8.1 The winners will each win a one-year subscription to Splice (www.splice.com).

8.1.1 The top winner will receive a Splice Creator license, and the three runners-up will receive a Splice Sounds+ license each.

8.2 Additionally:

8.2.1 each winner will have the opportunity (but not the obligation) for their entry to be included on a compilation EP published and released by MediaTracks as part of the MediaTracks production music catalogue; and

8.2.2 the top winning entrant will have the opportunity (but not the obligation) to create and deliver a new and complete EP comprising their music for publication and release by MediaTracks as part of the MediaTracks production music catalogue.

8.3 Each winner is responsible for any costs or expenses involved in claiming or using the prize other than those that are expressly stated above as being included as part of the prize.

8.4 The prize may be subject to additional terms and conditions imposed by us, the supplier or other organisation connected to this competition, such as Distributed Creation Inc. t/a Splice.

8.5 If necessary due to circumstances beyond our control, we may (at our option) substitute the prize for a reasonable equivalent of equal or higher value.

8.6 The prize is for the named winners only and cannot be given or transferred to any other person.

9. Receiving the prize

9.1 We will provide each winner with instructions on how to obtain their prize.

9.2 We are not liable for any damage or loss to a prize caused by any third party. If a prize fails to be delivered (for instance in the event of downtime, insolvency, liquidation or administration), we have no obligation to provide a replacement prize.

10. Publicity and use of personal information

10.1 We will use your personal information only in accordance with these terms and conditions and our Privacy Policy.

10.2 The names of the winners can be obtained by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to MediaTracks Music Limited of Basepoint Business Centre Ipswich 70 - 72 The Havens, Ransomes Europark, Ipswich, Suffolk, England, IP3 9BF for 12 weeks after the closing date.

10.3 Entrants who do not want their name included on the list of winners referred to above must notify us within a reasonable period of time before the closing date of this competition. See clause 13 below for our contact details.

10.4 The winners of this competition may be asked to participate in publicity.

11. Ownership and use of entries

11.1 Save as set out in clause 11.2, you will retain ownership of all intellectual property rights (including copyright) in your entry, but you agree to grant us a licence to use it for solely for the purposes of facilitating and promoting this competition.

11.2 IMPORTANT: Each winner will be required to sign and enter into MediaTracks’ standard form Composer Agreement as a condition of accepting the prize(s) under clause 8.2. Please email info@mediatracks.co.uk if you would like to view a copy of the Composer Agreement before entering, and if you have any questions relating to it.

11.3 You confirm that your entry:

11.3.1 is your own new and original work and does not breach any third party’s intellectual property rights (for example, by including any unlicensed samples);

11.3.2 is free from any encumbrances and has not been previously assigned or licensed to any third party (e.g. to a non-exclusive library);

11.3.3 is not defamatory, offensive, threatening, discriminatory, distasteful or illegal;

11.3.4 can be submitted to us and used without breaching any contractual obligation to any person; and

11.3.5 does not contain anything which may be confidential or commercially sensitive.

11.4 You are not entitled to any fees for granting the licence and you are not entitled to terminate it unless we agree in writing.

12. Our liability

While nothing in these terms and conditions will limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud, we will not be legally responsible to entrants or winners for any losses that were not foreseeable to us or to you at the time of entry to this competition or which are caused by a third party.

13.2 The laws of England and Wales apply to these terms and conditions. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
