In an industry that’s so competitive, MediaTracks takes a personal approach, with real enthusiasm for the work composers do.

Sebastian’s musical journey began in early childhood with a Farfisa Lido organ, shortly followed by the piano and countless synthesizers. He could read music before he could write, and as he grew older, he developed a keen interest in a wide range of music, from the Pet Shop Boys and Kraftwerk to Bach.

By the age of 16, Sebastian realised that he really wanted to study music and pursue it as a career. His skills were developed at ArtEZ University of the Arts in the Netherlands and the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in the UK. After studying, he began his musical career as a keyboard player and programmer on the Liverpool studio scene, and worked on several well-known productions as a sound engineer and co-producer, including on Atomic Kitten’s number one album Feels So Good.

Although he loves engineering and mastering sound, Sebastian had a deep desire to compose and produce his own music. Realising that media work was a way for him to pursue this, he got in touch with Mediatracks in 2004 and has been working with us ever since. Hundreds of his compositions have now found their way into film, TV and media productions. His work has had over a million plays on Soundcloud, with more than half of them published via Mediatracks. 'Quiet conversation', featuring the wonderful Dmitri Levine on Cello (who tragically passed away 3 years ago) is particularly popular.

Overall, Sebastian’s work is all about emotion - not only in the music itself, but within the creative process and the relationships he builds with clients and colleagues. When all of that lines up, that’s when the real magic begins! Never one to be boxed in by genres, he loves to mix inspiration from different styles of music, and describes his musical roots as 'From Eno to Ennio and a whole lot in between' (Brian Eno to Ennio Morricone!). His piano (a 1907 Ubright affectionately nicknamed ‘Madame Bechstein’) is often the starting point of his work.

Sebastian is driven by an insatiable curiosity for trying new things and forging new creative combinations, and this forms a key element of his work. He has recently become increasingly involved with the implementation of his music in VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality) and Spatial Audio formats. When he’s not busy composing, he enjoys woodwork, photography, gardening and escaping to his cottage outside of Berlin to be at one with nature.
