MediaTracks is an enthusiastic, pro-active company

Pete Whitfield, a talented violinist, string arranger, composer, and loops producer, is renowned for his exceptional work with strings. From a young age, Pete's passion for music was ignited when he started learning the violin at the age of five. This passion has carried him throughout his career, leading him to specialize in arranging and writing for strings, a field in which he continues to excel.

After studying violin and composition at the Royal College of Music, Pete embarked on a diverse music career that embraced various genres and opportunities. His journey took him through bands, radio commercials, and music theatre, where he served as the musical director for The Rocky Horror Show from 1996 to 1999. Alongside his music endeavours, Pete also dedicated himself to teaching, sharing his knowledge and passion with aspiring musicians.

Writing production music holds a special place in Pete's heart, as he thrives on the challenge of crafting compositions that meet specific briefs. His deep understanding of strings allows him to create captivating arrangements that add depth and emotion to any production.

Pete's path intersected with MediaTracks through the influence of fellow composer Ian Livingstone. Drawn to the company's dynamic and proactive approach, Pete found a perfect home for his creative endeavours. MediaTracks' enthusiastic team resonated with his own passion for music, sparking collaborations that continue to push the boundaries of his craft.

Outside of his music career, Pete enjoys indulging in his hobbies and interests. Cooking, sports, and cherishing the joys of fatherhood bring balance to his life, allowing him to find inspiration and fulfilment beyond the realm of music.

Based in Manchester, UK, Pete creates his magic using Neumann and AEA microphones, channelled through a Universal Audio Apollo X4 interface, and recorded on his trusted Mac running Logic. With a fleet of 12 violins and violas at his disposal, Pete's dedication to achieving exceptional sound quality and delivering masterful performances is unmatched.
