David Lol Perry creates music steeped in melancholia, dark, bittersweet, and quietly unsettling. His work blends neo-classical textures with an experimental edge, embracing imperfection and emotional fracture to create music that feels intimate, human, and unresolved.
David Lol Perry (he/him)
David’s career took an unconventional path. After his college band was signed by 4AD before splitting, he was drawn back into music through composing for the stage production The Elephant Man. The experience proved transformative, leading him to leave a successful City career and commit fully to composition. Collaborating with Winchester College’s Quiristers, he developed plainsong-based works that resulted in a record deal with Warner Classics. His album Three Wings charted on the UK Specialist Classical Chart and was later featured on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune.
His move into production music emerged during lockdown, building on earlier international publishing work. What he values most is the freedom to experiment without being constrained by personal branding, while still composing with focus and intent.
