Carl then began to play in bands at bars and clubs around New England, USA, during this time he began to write his own music as well as developing a strong passion for Blues music. Between 1986 and 1989, Carl served in the US Navy and through the people he met, he was exposed to a lot of music he hadn’t previously heard, such as Indie Rock and Jazz. After serving in the Navy, Carl realised he wanted to take composing seriously.
In the nineties, Carl moved to Milan to study music where he greatly improved as a guitarist and a songwriter. After graduating, Carl was approached by an Italian TV producer to compose instrumental material for a popular show called “Le Iene”. This was his first taste of production music and he enjoyed it immensely. It made Carl realise he could make a living composing music.
During the 2000s Carl began to work with various music licensing companies and slowly improved his craft composing in various styles from Classic Rock and Jazz to television underscore. Song placements began to arrive and his recognition slowly increased. Carl continues to write focused, quality songs that are moving and distinct. Carl enjoys the freedom of composing in different styles and not having to worry about having one “sound” or a specific “image”. He also loves the unpredictability of the process and crafting the end product.
Music is a huge part of Carl’s life, but when he’s not working he loves to go on walks and bike rides.
