I really like the direct contact you have with the team at MediaTracks, it really brings a great sense of family and togetherness.

Andrew first became interested in music at the age of fifteen when he started playing the bass guitar in Alt Rock bands at school. From there he went on to achieve a 2:1 in Music Technology at Leeds Beckett University.

After leaving University Andrew began working for a theatre company where he provided audio post production for their ongoing radio drama series. He then went on to work as a sound designer in live theatre, working in The West Yorkshire Playhouse, The Lowry and the Battersea Arts Centre.

After a successful few years in theatre audio, Andrew took a job working for Leeds based record label, Baker Street Recordings. Here, he produced remixes, as well as taking on music business duties such as signing artists and organising events. Whilst at Baker Street, Andrew managed the labels’ production music library for a number of years, both producing bespoke compositions for clients and hunting down syncs for the artists he represented. In 2013 Andrew moved on to set up his own post production studio GroundBIRD, where he provides a full range of audio post production services. In the last four years these services have evolved to include the composition of production music.

Andrew’s music is fundamentally rooted in the electronic dance scene, but through collaborations with other artists, Andrew has crafted a hybrid style of electronic roots and more traditional instrumentation, such as string and choral arrangements. Andrew’s unique skills here are born from his successful career in sound design, which allows him to understand harmonically which electronic and traditional instrument timbres naturally work well together, helping to create much more organic mixes.

After music, Andrew’s other passion is working with his wife to create a sustainable living model that is both practical and implementable at a small-scale residential level. He’s also an avid climber.
